The International Video Dance Festival of Le Breuil (Burgundy, France) is supported by the National Theatre of France and the city of Le Breuil. March 2009 will mark the first annual festival featuring two days of curated video dance screenings, lectures and the opening of a month-long exhibition of dance photography and screen dance installations, among others. The festival events will be held at two local cultural landmarks, The Morambeau Theater (screenings) and The Francois Mitterrand Center (exhibition, screenings, lectures). This year’s keynote address will be given by Youri Deschamps, editor in chief of Eclipses, one of France’s most respected cinema research journals.
In addition to hosting an annual video dance festival, the city of Le Breuil is committed to studying the fascinating world of cinematic images and movement throughout the 2008-2009 school year. As a result, public school children will embark on an exploration of video dance from September through March. During the festival, these new video dance makers will have the opportunity to share their work and attend screenings, lectures etc. Additional historic video dance screenings will be shown at Le Centre Francois Mitterrand at scheduled intervals prior to the festival in order to provide the community with a better understanding of the historic roots of video dance which can be traced back to the earliest forms of cinema. These showings are free and open to the public. The schedule and more information will be released soon.
If you’re interested in submitting work to be considered for the curated program of the festival, or for the dance photography/screen dance installation exhibition, please see this blog’s homepage for more information. The closing deadline is November 5, 2008.
Please join us in celebrating the art of screen dance in historic Burgundy this coming March, 2009.
Dear Festival
I have tried to email you images from my film to the email on your site:
videodansedubreuil@yahoo.com
However the email keeps failing! Is the email correct?
best

Hi Esther,
We have been receiving all your e-mails without a problem and have sent you several confirmation messages. Did you receive anything from us? Please check your spam folder to make sure we haven’t been placed there. I’m not sure why this is happening though, as we have all your messages/photos. This is the first we’ve heard of a problem. However, we have all your photos and submission information, so thank you. We’ll contact you again once we’ve received your DVD. Once again, please make sure our e-mail address is on your approved list. Best wishes! -staff of the International Video Dance Festival
have you already informed the applicants about your selection for the videodanse festival??
Sincerely
Barbaa
The final program selection will be e-mailed to all applicants during the final week of December. The festival program will also be posted here on the blog. Stay tuned for updates coming soon!
Hello,
I am thinking of coming to the festival but i cant find you on a map. What is the best way to fly in internationally? Where can i learn more about your town?
Hello,
Le Breuil is situated in the department of Saône et Loire, in Burgundy (Bourgogne in French). Most visitors fly into Paris or Lyon and arrive by train. Le Breuil is five minutes away from the city of Le Creusot where there is a high speed train station (TGV) and a normal train station. From Paris it only takes one hour by TGV. Please don’t hesitate to e-mail us with further questions at videodansedubreuil@yahoo.com Hope to see you in March!
I was excited to learn that my film “Shifting Ground” has been accepted into your festival.
Please let me know what you need vis-a-vis publicity stills and screening copies.
Thanks so much and happy New Year!
Sincerely,
Zachary Rothman
